The Vest

Many of us are dealing with the same heartbreaking weather ailment: that we are almost through September and it is hot. It is too hot for sweaters, too hot for ponchos. Too hot for anything but the same clothes we've been wearing all summer. We are all excited for fall, and I am beyond excited for some fall outfit posts to commence. But in the interest of keeping things realistic, I was racing to find something that would perfectly transition my wardrobe from summer to fall. Enter: the chic vest. Whenever I thought of a vest, I would always think about those terrible vests that moms wore in the 90s, especially around Christmastime. Or about the patch vest I was forced to wear during 8 years of being a girl scout. Being the style-minded 4 year old that I was, I vowed to never, ever wear a vest. Fast forward 20 years, and I finally found one that I am head-over-heels for. A long, waterfall draped design in the most perfect shade of charcoal. Wear it will all black. Wear it with a turtleneck and bellbottoms come fall (well, if fall ever comes.) Belt it over a dress. Endless possibilities. And best of all, it is the perfect transition piece.

Do you have any tips or tricks for dressing seasonally when it's not quite feeling like the season? I'd love to hear!
