New Year Blues
It’s no secret around here that my favorite color is blue. Whether it be for a dress or a dining room, I love blue. I love it in a stripe, in a gingham, and in a floral. Blue represents both comfort and calm to me. I can vouch (as I’m sure many others can) that I feel the most peace, and can see the most beauty in the earth, by way of the sea and the sky.
It transcends any kind of boundaries between fashion and interior design, too. To a room, blue and white is an instant way to add color, style, or pattern - whether it be to a dress or a dining room. And with every tone of blue being just as beautiful as the next, there’s so much variation and dimension to work with. In my house, we painted the walls of our living room a perfect (in my opinion) shade of blue earlier this year. In our bathroom I’m adding a blue grasscloth wallpaper, and in our dining room I hope to eventually add my favorite silver blue Ralph Lauren wallpaper.
For me that all intersects with fashion, too. If i’m not buying something white or neutral, I’m buying something blue. Blue still feels like kind of a neutral to me, since its such a natural color. The kind of classic style blue lends to a room is the same style it lends to a wardrobe.
