The Spring Dress

While I know it's not the most practical item to wear, I love a feminine, fit-and-flare dress. I have a few too many for my own good, but this classic silhoutette gets me every time. I love dresses that are sophisticated and perfectly-tailored, with a little bit of that retro 50's look. Plus, they are flattering on everyone! Alas, I am not a 1950's housewife nor am I in the Junior League, so as much as I love my dress (and wearing it with heels) it doesn't always make for the most comfortable outfit. So how do I get away with wearing my favorite dressy dresses? I throw on a pair of sneakers.

I found these nike sneakers on sale at J.C. Penney during an unplanned trip to the mall in yet another pair of uncomfortable flats. So uncomfortable that I literally had to buy a pair of sneakers right then and there, or my boyfriend probably would have had to carry me out of the mall. I'd been searching for a new pair of sneakers for a while now (I've had my old pair for 4 years now!) so it kind of feels like fate that I happened to find these when I wasn't even looking for them (but desperately needed them). I feel like my most favorite pieces in my closet are those that have a good story and good memories attached to them- how or where I found them- it makes them so much more special!

Would you wear a dress with sneakers? Try it out, it's nice to have comfortable feet sometimes.
