Cocoon Coat
Searching for the perfect winter coat has been, in a word, exhausting. Too short, too long, wrong color, (which color?), style, materials, pockets…it's a lot to think about. I've been searching high and low for a winter coat since we moved to Kansas City in August, knowing that the winter months were just around the corner. I knew the exact look I was going for: a robe coat. I've been keeping my eye on the robe-coat trend for months and decided it was the look for the winter season. But one dead end after another, I ultimately was not able to find just the right robe coat. The second I saw this coat in the store, though, it became clear this was everything I didn't know I was looking for. (Don't you just love those unexpected moments?) This wool cloth cocoon style coat actually has quite a minimalist look to it (another trend which has increasingly become more of a lifestyle obsession of mine). It doesn't really lend itself to any sort of trend right now other than simplicity and clean lines, which are two things I know I will love beyond one season.
What I love most about this coat is the shape- the cocoon style, when unzipped, looks casual and carefree, and when I wear it I feel like a cool French girl walking down a street with a million guys looking at me in awe because I look so incredible. When it's zipped to the bottom of the neck, it looks glamorous and strong, and when it's zipped all the way up it almost looks a little sixties retro and so stylish, which I absolutely love.. It just makes me feel amazing when I wear it. Casual enough for throwing over jeans and a sweater, dressy enough to wear over a dress with heels, and neutral enough to wear with just about anything. It's the perfect coat.
