Spring 2015 Inspiration Board
As I sit and write this in the dead of winter, under layers of chunky sweaters and blankets, it seems that there could not be a better time to start daydreaming about spring. Fresh blooms, sunny days, leaving the windows open to let in the cool fresh air- are all things I've found myself picturing while I drift away from the arctic freeze outside. . .
Of course, I'm most excited about the wardrobe changes. After giving it some thought, and clothes are something I think about quite a bit, the idea of just keeping things simple sounded in my head. Why make things harder than they have to be? I love the idea of having a few key pieces that do all the work for you- the classic white shirt, for example. Another resolution I made this year was to turn my attention to the hard-working essentials- sustainable, classic pieces that will last years in my wardrobe. I've mindfully kept my resolution in mind as I look forward to spring trends. Crisp, modern, all-American are three words I have in mind that define how I want to dress once spring has sprung.
I love the balance of structured top and unstructured boyfriend jean, the iconic well-worn denim jacket tied around the waist, the crisp, tailored black tuxedo pant for dressier days. A modern silhouette, a classic white shirt, and natural hair and makeup will be my go-to inspirations for spring. I want everything to feel clean and fresh, either perfectly tailored or perfectly untailored, with a washy pale blue and lavender color palette mixed with more classic pieces. Of course I'll throw in a bit of dark grey, which has been one of my favorite neutrals as of late, not only because I love it on my skin tone but also because it will work wonderfully against blues, blacks and whites. And if you really want to make things interesting, I love the idea of boldly printed accessories, ladylike handbags and a classic pair of sunnies for running around town. Nude strappy sandals, beige or white mules and possibly even a navy jumpsuit are all on my list of things to try for the upcoming season!
What are you looking forward to this spring? I'd love to hear in the comments below!
