Guest Room Reveal
The History
I’m so excited to share our guest room today! The renovation on this room was definitely simpler compared with our bathroom renovations and kitchen renovation. Originally there was old carpet, popcorn ceilings, yellowing paint and brown trim (scroll all the way down for the before picture!). We swapped out the old carpeting for wood floors, replaced the windows, painted the walls and added new baseboards. In terms of actual construction, the only big change in this space was that we borrowed some space from the room next door to add a closet to this room.
The Design
I wanted to create a serene and peaceful space that felt cozy and inviting and in keeping with the rest of the home- classic and a little traditional. The best part of this room is the incredible amount of light it gets - since it’s on the second floor, this room is flooded with natural light. With the warmth of all the sunshine this room gets, I chose a pale light blue color for the walls. The room isn’t all that big, so I tricd to stick with using pieces that felt more open like the nightstand and etagere to allow for some negative space. I’ve dreamed about getting some Serena & Lily pieces for this room for a while now - I purchased a few pillows and a bed throw to make it feel extra special.
I love how this space came together. Keep reading for my sources!
